110v 32a plug: what 32A and 110V mean and how to pair it

What exactly are 110V and 32A referring to?

When you get 1 industrial plug, the voltage and current on the nameplate are the two numbers that should be understood first. 110V is the nominal voltage, which falls within the identification range of 100V to 130V in IEC 60309 color code, so such finished products on the market are usually made yellow. 32A is the current gear, which belongs to the common rating of Series I in this standard. There are 16A, 63A and 125A in the same gear. It should be noted here that 32A and 30A in another Series II are only close in number, and the interface size and anti-misinsertion structure are not common and cannot be equated.

Therefore, a 110v 32amp plug refers to the plug end with a rated voltage of 110V and a rated current of 32A. In standard terminology, a plug is the side with pins, usually connected to a flexible cable, used to plug into a socket with jack contacts.

Yellow plus 4h clock position, how to recognize it at a glance

To recognize this kind of plug, the fastest is to look at two places: color and clock position. Yellow usually corresponds to the voltage range of 100V to 130V, which is consistent with the 32 amp 110v plug you have in your hand. The clock position refers to the orientation of the protective conductor contact relative to the positioning slot. In the common configuration of 50Hz or 60Hz, 2P E, 100V to 130V accessories adopt 4h position.

However, the color can only be regarded as auxiliary identification and cannot replace the nameplate. The shell fades, pollutes, or becomes lighter after years of sun exposure, which may make people misjudge. If you really want to place an order, you still have to go back to the product body and check the rated voltage, frequency, current and pole position.

Why can't extreme bits be ambiguous

Single-phase 110V plug, the common configuration is 2P E, that is, two current-carrying poles plus a protective conductor contact, a total of 3 main contacts. 3P E is a 3 phase conductor plus a protective conductor, which is used in a three-phase system and is completely different from a single phase. 1 only 32a 110v plug if it is marked 2P E, don't match it with 3P E products. It is a good thing that the pole position cannot be inserted when it is not right, and it is dangerous to insert it hard.

By the 1, the neutral conductor and the protective conductor have different divisions of labor. They cannot be exchanged just because the number of contacts looks similar. Special care should be taken when wiring.

Please verify these items together before placing your order.

Simply writing "32A" is far from sufficient. The rated voltage, frequency, pole position, clock position, protection level and installation form shall be confirmed together, and any missing item may not be matched on site. Protection grade IP44 and IP67 are common in these 1 files. The former can prevent splashing water, while the latter can prevent dust and temporarily soak in water under specified conditions. Which one depends on whether the site is afraid of water, dust or both.

How thick the terminal can be connected depends on the model. It is also 32A. The cross-sectional area range of different series of catalog conductors is different. Some are given 2.5 to 6 mm², others are given 4 to 6 mm², and finally it has to be determined according to the installation instructions and actual cables. On the load side, the apparent power of single-phase 110V 32A is about 3520 VA, but this is the rated carrying capacity, which does not mean that the equipment will always be full of this current.

Pairing always involves a male connector on one side and a female connector on the other.

Direct pairing of industrial plugs and sockets must have pins on one side and corresponding jack contacts on the other. The 32 amp plug 110v plug should be equipped with sockets with the same voltage and current gear. 16A, 32A, 63A and 125A cannot be interchanged just because the colors are close. If a 32amp 110v plug is forced into the 16A socket, it either cannot be plugged in, or the key position has been touched. In both cases, it should not be powered on.

The same color only indicates that it may fall within the same voltage identification range. Whether it can be inserted into each other or not, the current size, pole position, clock position and frequency must be checked. In case it cannot be inserted, stop and re-align the model. Don't use cutting key positions or forced insertion to go around.

Keep an eye on installation and daily use

The work of fixed wiring such as fixed socket shall be done by qualified electrical personnel. Before operation, the power shall be cut off and checked. The terminal tightening torque and stripping length shall be in accordance with the instructions of this model. The cable should be fixed with the clamping structure, and do not let the pulling force directly press on the terminal. After the plug is plugged in, it should be locked in place. For long-term outdoor use, attention should be paid to whether the sealing ring, cover plate and cable seal are aging. Once signs of cracking, overheating or water ingress are found, the power should be cut off before treatment.

Remember these foundations, 1 only 110v 32a plug will not go wrong from selection to installation.
